Day 22 Friday 7/12

The plan was to take up early today…that plan failed. Only me and sister woke up earlier, her before me. But then she went back to sleep after failing to try and wake everyone else up. I woke up not long after she was out again. But once I was up I…was up. Spent my morning relaxing while waiting for the family to wake up.

And I have to say…it took them a good long while. Yet when we they did they were hoping to it and getting ready for the day. By that I mean back water into the Van and anything else we normally did in the morning.

Once in the Van it was into the nearby National Park again, Zion. Once at the visitor center we hoped out of the Van and into the shuttle they had and got a ride all the way to the top of the canyon here. Where we went on a walk. I refuse to say Hike because it wasn’t even a quarter of a mile, we went a bit in to a spot where we could interact with a river, stayed there for half an hour then came back to the shuttles.

We hitched another ride on a different shuttle to another spot where we went on something that can be considered a hike…a very small hike, not even half a mile round trip, but it was a heck of incline. Then it was again at the shuttle, and got off again at another stop that was at a lodge and where we got our dinner. And then when dinner was done, yet another shuttle ride to a museum did things then yet ANOTHER shuttle ride back to the visitor center where it was back to the Van.

And then when at the Van we drove back to the RV, picked up the dogs then went for a nice long drive. And during this drive we eventually got rained on, and I took a small nap.

I hate to say this, but that nap was the only think I really liked about that whole thing. I mean we brought a good amount of water with us, I was ready to go on a nice long hike, or several hikes for that matter. I’m not talking half mile round trip, I’m talking mile maybe two round trip, oh sure I would have complained about that too. But Come on! I was expecting that, not these insanely long and uncomfortable shuttle rides. After a bit I was actually WANTING a long hike, And instead I got a long drive ride where I got cramp in the back seat because of the mutts….oh what a fun day….now if only I can find a way to do sarcasm right…

Well now that my rant for this post is done, hopefully, I can go on. Eventually our drive was finished because dad didn’t want to deal with the after effects of the rain, so we went back to the RV. And when there we dealt with a few thinks, figured on where to go for dinner and then it was off to dinner. It as a good dinner I have to admit, but that’s a different matter.

Anyways we eventually finished and then back at the RV we again got ourselves a nice relaxing evening…oh who am I kidding? This is the may family there is no such thing as Nice and relaxing, maybe one but usually not the other. So fine, we “chilled out” as one can say and spent what is our normal evening.

Tomorrow is a travel day, a short one is the plan. We should get to Las Vegas and then find a park for the rest of day. We don’t want to travel all the way home thanks to how long that would be, but Las Vegas is a good point to stop for it is closer to home and a much more manageable time. And personally I think it would at least a tad easier to travel during the Nevada desert during that time too. But we will find out. And We really need the knocking on wood, for we are almost home!

Day 21 Thursday 7/11

Normal wake up for me, but it didn’t seem that way for the rest of the family. It took us past our normal time before we finally left for the day, with sister being a grouch the whole time.

Before we left the town we were in though, we had to pull over to fill up the gas take on the RV, it never hurts you know. But it delayed us little as we were soon on the road and to our next destination.

A good bit before lunch rolled around we pulled into the National Park we plan on staying at, and as luck would have it, there is literally no internet around. And then at some point we have to get through a tunnel, but since we are in an RV we had to get a special permit and then wait before we could even go through it…so boring. Eventually we got to go through the tunnel…man was it LONG. But amazingly not long after we got some good signal for our phones.

As twelve started to roll around we arrived at the RV park we hoped to stay at. We got a spot, but first we had to unload the Van. And as luck would have it…it started to sprinkle on us, we ignored that mostly. When done with the Van we took the RV to the spot we had and started setting it up…in ever increasing rain. So me and dad got nice and wet while we were getting the RV all situated, fun.

Well when we were done with that we did a few other things then it was into the Van for a lot of driving…and I do mean a lot. A few stops and eventually a mile+ hike. So all in all a long and boring afternoon. But we eventually had our dinner than came back to the RV to relax out the rest of the evening.

Tomorrow is more driving and exploring this national park…yea so much fun…HELP!

Day 19 Tuesday 7/09

The only abnormal part about the morning this time around was my computer deciding it wanted to do a diagnostic of itself and thus be useless for about an hour and a half. But once that was out of the way it was a perfectly normal morning.

Well almost normal, parents decided to run to the local store for some items while me and sister stayed back and relaxed/got ready. And then when they got back and had put way the items it was into the Van and off to explore a national park…though hikes.

The first hike we did was a little under a mile, and next to a stream. It was a good hike, and left room for me and dad to do a bit of stream hoping and risk taking, love it.

We did some driving and then a second hike, this one around 1.5 miles give or take .2. It was in a forest area this time and had some ups and downs, not bad really, the quiet that you could get was nice.

Once those were out of the way it was back to the RV for some lunch and taking care of pets. We probably stayed at the RV a bit longer than we needed to but eventually we got off our butts and was back in the Van to go off to one more hike.

This last hike was a killer. It was a 1.5 mile give or take as well, the difference was that it was up and down a cliff, not a sheer cliff no but you get the point. It was first down some switch backs and into a canyon and then a bit of walking into another canyon and to even more, a LOT MORE, switch backs this time going up. It damn near killed have the family, and the rest…well we were jumping between “we’ll hurt tomorrow” and “Oh I feel good.”

We had time to figure it out and rest as we drove around in the Van some more, did a few stops and eventually went and got dinner. And then even MORE driving in the Van, eventually though we came back to the RV.

And when we did we sadly found out our mutts problem had come back. He had dropped his liquid crap in the RV, and it does not smell good. So we got a few things taken care of and then settled in for the rest of the evening/night.

Tomorrow is more driving in the Van, this time for a different park. Oh goody…….HELP!

Day 18 Monday 7/08

Morning is morning around here, what can I say? The only difference from normal is our pets and the exact happening…and well we are without Grandma now.

But anyways, it was a “normal” morning around here. We even got on the road at a normal time. And then came the drive through a desert. And while driving in said place we had to listen to an increasingly annoying noise come from the door. What sound you ask? Why the sound of air rushing past the door through some hole or something and thus creating the noise of a motorcycle. It really is annoying.

Though sadly, our drive was not uneventful. One of the dogs decided that his digestive track would grind us to a halt. We had to do a quick pull over and let him out to relieve what we think was his diarrhea and for a dog, that is not a good thing at all. We had to wait several minutes for him to finish up, and then we were back on the road, wondering all the while what is cause this to our dog and how can we fix it.

Sadly he did not last long, we had to stop and pull over at a different spot and repeat. The amazing thing about this one was that we were less than twenty minutes out from our next stop, a gas lunch stop as it would turn out to be. And like always after we were done, it was back to the road.

The next time we stopped would be much later down the road, at a place we planned on staying the night. No luck, they were full, so we kept on driving. Eventually we came across another campground and tried them for an open spot. Thankfully this one was open, so we hoped into a spot and got the RV situated

And when the RV was situated we did a few other things and then it as into the Van for a bit of exploration. And then we came back to the RV to get ready for dinner and do a few other things as well.

But eventually we had to leave again, to get to a presentation that we wanted to see. It ran a tad late, but it was alright and when done it was back to the RV to finish up our day.

Tomorrow the RV will be staying in the same spot but we will be traveling around in the Van and exploring the nearby Park, which will be a LONG thing. So I get to be bored out of my skull again, and dragged along for several hikes, hip. So if you want to knock on wood, please do it for my sake.

And PS. The Internet here Sucks!

Day 15 Friday 7/05

So….I’m running out of ways to start these things off. But that happens when you do this on a day to day basses. Well anyways woke up at seven again, and relaxed my way through the morning. And like always, the family all got up in time and we got the RV ready.

Sadly I was an idiot again and forgot to have this going when we left, so I can’t say when we left real easily but it would be safe to say we left close to nine like we normally do.

Before we left completely though we got to have a conversation with…someone from the campground. Apparently our light pole that we have attached to the flag pole we put up had become the talk of the campground of sorts. It was cool knowing that but it was still nice when we got on the road again and were on our way.

Amazingly it wasn’t even twelve when we arrived at our stop for the day. And like the last stop we plan on being here for a few days, but given we are here This early…well I don’t know what to think by this point. Alright correction, we were not stopping by then, Don’t ask why I wasn’t getting clarification thanks to having an angry sibling.

Our next attempt to stop at a campground was near 12:30. This one we were able to get a spot, so we soon got ourselves into a spot and got the RV situated.

But then we hoped into the Van and went for a drive…a very long drive. A drive in which we decided to go a “nearby” national park, explore a bit. And then have Dinner, drive a bit more then spend several hours at an observatory and look at the stars. And then right back to the RV.

By the time we got back it was late, hence the shortness of the explanations of the day’s events. I am not really in the mood to type up a long thing right now so I am trying to keep this as short as possible.

So tomorrow we got even more driving in the Van, much of the same as today, very long and very boring. But I will try and tell you what happens. Now…goodnight…
